I want to start off and say this story definitely works as a stand-alone. It's almost a bit more fun reading this one first. Of course... now I have to go back and read the "prequel" for more heady and gnawing tension that Reyer expertly creates.
Jasmine's curious three-way relationship is a thrilling and daring change of pace to the usual "college graduate meets CEO" formula that tends to crop up in some billionaire romances. The only thing more complicated than the threes' relationship is each of their own flaws. Lurking beneath the surface... daring to bubble forth.
It's fun and a fast-paced read. I recommend it for sure.
It's been a while since I read this, so I hope I'm remembering it correctly. There didn't seem to be much in regards to developing a relationship since it begun before you enter the story. The relationship between the two guys except for sex seem to be strained. Luke seemed to be unable to discuss anything meaningful with Evan ( the quick tempered control freak)for fear that he'd upset him. What kind of a relationship is that? It took the woman to loosen Evan up and deal with his personal problems. What does that say about his relationship with Luke which was longer and suppose to be based on love. As for Jasmine she was a snoop who drew the wrong conclusions about almost everything. Anyway, I just couldn't get in touch with the characters.
I read the first book in a boxed set and then had to get the second one. I've never read anything like this before but the author makes it impossible to stop reading. I couldn't get enough of all three main characters and felt connected to them. This is the first time I've read a storyline like this and even with its uniqueness she made it believable. Not one boring moment and I was hooked the entire time, wanting to read more when it ended. Sadly this set is one of a kind so its not like I can go read more of the same genre, at least not that I know of. Plus I'm not sure I wouldn't be disappointed by another author. I did however just go find another book of a different theme by THIS amazing author and am about to sit down for a long read )
Secrets & Curves is a very hot romance mystery that kept me turning the pages. It's got great Coming of Age and billionaire erotic romance elements, but it also takes a unique turn as Jasmine's story with Evan and Luke unfolds.
Jasmine begins as an out-of-luck heroine when she falls into the billionaire's lair. She's plus size and recently split with her boyfriend, with no hint of the wonders to come. And, no, I don't just mean in the bedroom! Jasmine is quickly pulled into a confounding, dangerous world where the stakes are high and the rewards are sweet.
This book, like the best billionaire romance novels, has a high degree of heat. I enjoyed the marvelously steamy menage between Jasmine, Evan, and Luke. Reyer gives us a believable dynamic between three well written lovers, who find that their love for each other rises behind the lusty backdrop.
Secrets & Curves is a sequel, but I had no problem taking in this story without having read the first book. It's a stand alone story, and the characters are written so convincingly that readers won't be lost if this is their first encounter with them. If BBW romance is your thing, then add this five star read to your library!
This story is definitely one of my favorites. The beginning is so wonderfully different and enthralling, that once you start reading it, it's really difficult to put down.
I think one of the things I liked the most was that Julianne Reyer allowed for plenty of intrigue and plot to go along with the sexiness. That's one of my huge pet peeves about some stories, you know? They just sort of jump into the action, which is good, but sometimes it's the wrong sort of action? I want to get to know the characters a little better more before they get more intimately knowledgeable of one another.
This story definitely has wonderful set up like that. It's got a lot going on at first, but it flows into the main plot really well. I especially liked the realism of the job interview idea and the emotions and anxiety behind it all. That situation, and really just everything going forward in the novel, honestly seemed like something that could actually happen. I was pulled into the story a lot because of that.
The mystery and intrigue definitely made the novel, though. The fact that Jasmine's kind of an ordinary woman swept up into some crazy lifestyle with two enigmatic and attractive men with deep secrets was fascinating to me.
I really loved this story and I think you will, too. I've read other books by Julianne Reyer and I think this is one of my favorites now. If you're looking for a curvy romantic suspense novel that's a step above the rest, you should definitely check this one out!
I read the first book in this series, Hunting for Curves, and absolutely loved it! So when I saw that book 2 was out, I couldn’t wait to read it. Let me just say that I was NOT disappointed!
